Dragon*Con has come and gone

And I'm still floating on a cloud of con happiness.  I had the best time this year, and most of that was spending such great time with friends.  Wheeeeeee!  I can't wait to do it all over again next year.

I did it!

*does little happy dance*   I finished the Eowyn Challenge, walking from Hobbiton to Rivendell.  It took me 117 days, but I walked 458 miles.   I would've been done a couple of weeks ago, but I got sick and really slowed down for a while.  Still, it averages to nearly 4 miles a day.

Anyway, now on to the next phase of my journey:  Rivendell to Lothlorien.  462 miles.  I hope I can do it before Dragon*Con, but I'm not sure.   *crosses fingers*

I'm closer

To my current weight loss goal, that is.  I have it planned to set a new one each time I reach the current one, until I reach the ultimate goal.  Baby steps, right?  Before, it was to lose10% of my starting weight.  I achieved that, and then I set to lose down to *cough* 200 *cough*.  I'm 5 pounds away, and these last few weeks have been rough trying to lose anything.   For several weeks I didn't lose more than 4 pounds altogether.  Last week, though, I  lost 4 pounds, and this week I lost another 2.  I think I'm back on track.  Woohoo!

I'm losing inches, as well, but I can't seem to lose any in my waist.  My bust has reduced (although the cup size is still pretty impressive), and I've lost in my hips.  About 2 1/2 inches in my boobs so far, and about 3 1/2 in my hips.  I've only lost about 1 1/2 - 2 inches in my waist, though.  I guess I really need to work on stomach crunches, or something.  All the walking I've done is doing great with the hips and thighs, but not so good on the waist.

I can't wait until Dragon*Con this year!  Time to get started on costumes!

Eowyn challenge update

I'd been walking as exercise for several weeks before I started tracking how far I walked each day, but I started keeping track on Jan 21st for the Eowyn challenge.  Since then (20 days now) I've walked 109.7 miles.

I'm pretty happy about that, but would love to up that average.  Weekends are a good time for me to try and push myself.  Today I covered 8 miles, but my ankles aren't happy with me.  I think it might be my shoes.  Bummer, because I like them other than the way they sit around my ankles.

Tomorrow I want to do at least 7 or 8 miles.  Maybe more.  Time to try a different pair of shoes to experiment with, and see if my ankles feel OK afterward.  Also, can't forget to recharge my mp3 player.  That has really helped me out by giving me a beat to walk to.  Helps me just zone out and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Short and sweet today.  I think I went a little nuts yesterday:  I walked 8 miles, and my body knew it too.  My joints (hips) were a bit stiff when I would first get up after sitting, but that seems to be gone today.   Very happy for the mp3 player, as I play a song with a good fast beat, and my legs move in time with the rhythm.  I sweat, and huff and puff before I'm done.

Anyway, that's a total of 66.4 miles since Jan 21.  I'm pretty sure I won't go nearly as far today, but I'm shooting for at least that far again next Saturday and Sunday.

Accomplishment

Yeah, I know.  It's been a loonnnng time since I last posted.  I'm just not a blogger.  I enjoy reading other people's or community's stuff and commenting.  *sigh*

Anyway, thanks to  [info]muntahz, I've been working on losing some weight.  She prodded me into this, and I blame her.  LOL  A week or two after I visited with her, we got to talking about weight loss, and she suggested a plan she has.  I'm not thinking of this as a diet.  It's a lifestyle change, and once the cravings of the first two weeks went away, I've had relatively little trouble sticking to this.

Hmmm

I've been busy trying to make a corset to wear to the Vampire Ball next Friday.  Not this coming weekend, but the next.  Holy crap!

Dragon*Con redux

*sigh*  Another Dragon*Con has come and gone.  As usual, I have very mixed emotions.  I'm happy to get some sleep now.  I'm also sad it's over, even though I'm looking forward to another year.  I need another year, just to get the costuming done I have planned.  Now that I've really been bitten by the bug, there's a lot I want to do for next year.  Woot!

Can I just say I love Dragon*Con?  It's my favorite time of the year, other than Hallowe'en.   And here it is again.  Woot!

Foray into costuming

Ever since I was a kid I've always loved a film filled with costumes.  Historial, futuristic, whatever --  it's all good.  I just never thought I'd be trying to make any of my own.  I've loved going to panels at cons giving tips and techniques, and I've thought up stuff, but I've just never really gotten around to trying any of it.  Maybe because I needed to learn to sew just a bit first?  ;)

Well, now I've finally gone and done it.  I have several ideas running around my head right now, but seemingly not enough time to do any of this stuff.   I had hoped to have this done in time for Archon, but I refuse to bust my butt.  I will have this done in time for DCon, though, or I'd better.  Here's what I have so far on a can-can outfit.  Must embellish the outer skirt, make the bodice, and the pantaloons.

I'm in Tulsa for Conestoga 2007, and taking a break to post.  Soon I'll be heading back to the Harry Potter release party.  Can't wait to get my hands on the book.  Must find out what happens to Snape, and if he will be vindicated, as I hope.  *crosses fingers*

Today has been a full day, starting with panels at 9:00.  Lots of stuff today, and an idea or two popped into my head for something I want to make some day.  Some day long down the road, I think.

I arrived in St Louis last night for Costume-Con 25, and it's been great so far.  Didn't do much last night except pick up my registration early.  Too tired to do anything fun.
